In what city/state was your first house located and approximately what year did you buy it?
That house is in Nebraska and it has been in the family for well over 3 generations.
What was your living situation prior to buying your first house? Where/with whom/etc?
I lived in that house the day after I was born and I was raised there for 19 years.
What motivated you to purchase your first house?
I purchased my first house because it was time for the bird to leave the nest. I wanted to grow independently.
How did you go about getting the money together to buy it?
I saved for years of working since I was 15 years old. When I was ready, I had enough for a down payment
When you purchased, were you thinking of it as an investment or as a place to start a family. Please elaborate.
I wasn’t thinking of either of those things. I just wanted to get out of Nebraska and far away to be honest.
What are 3 things you liked most about the house?
The house I bought was spacious for a single person and had plenty of windows in the right places to let in natural light.
Was there anything you didn’t like about it?
I didn’t like that it was in what I considered to be a sketchy neighborhood.
Did you make any improvements or major renovations to the house?
I have left it just as it was when I got it.
Please share 1-2 of your fondest/funniest memories from living there.
A woman next door knew I moved in and baked me a pie! I didn’t think people did that anymore.
Do you still live there or did you sell it or renting it?
I’m still here! This place has grown on me.
What advice would you give other first time home buyers?
Embrace the journey, especially if you are moving far away to live.
